Alicia is from the city of Gothenburg and has lived there her entire life. Currently, she works as a receptionist at a hotel and has a penchant for French cuisine.

“I love eating out when I’m enjoying myself in Gothenburg. When I’m in the mood for seafood, I head to Fiskekrogen, though I must say, Gurra’s is very good as well. Of course, I have a particular fondness for French cuisine too, so Le Comptoir is a favorite of mine.”

Axia is a receptionist at Avalon, who initially joined us as an intern but has now been working at Avalon for 2.5 years.

“I think Room 21 is nice with its open bath. Not many hotels choose to design their rooms this way, and I find it cool and interesting. I have a fond memory of that room when a friend and I were getting ready for our prom; we had that room. One could stand by the mirror to do makeup and still be in the same room. It’s so nice.”

CORNELIA ON THE RESTAURANT

Cornelia works with us primarily as a receptionist and has been on full-time at Avalon since January, with a fondness for food and drinks.

“In the restaurant, I would choose our three-course menu because I trust our new headchef, Rickard, who is really awesome. Then, I'd start with a Bloody Mary from the bar and move on to Cava!”

Introducing Kamilla, the hotel manager at Avalon, who has lived in Gothenburg for 15 years and originally comes from Halmstad.

"From the start, Avalon's focus has been to wholeheartedly work with art and design. We boast a unique art collection, and I genuinely recommend that one comes here to visit. The art is contemporary, with a focus on the Nordic region, though other parts of the world are also represented. The design objects date from throughout the 20th century and beyond.

Another must-visit in Gothenburg is the archipelago, especially during the summer. Gothenburg has about 20 islands, each with its unique charm, offering something for everyone. Vrångö is a personal favorite, with its beautiful sandy beaches and picturesque nature reserves."

"My top tips for maximizing your Gothenburg experience include visiting Wine Mechanics for a unique encounter with local wine production up close. Naturally, such a visit is best complemented by a wine tasting.

During the summer, I recommend grabbing a sandwich at Bodega Nord, enjoying an ice cream at Råda Gelato, and having a coffee at Bar Italia. The evening can be splendidly concluded in the same area at the distinguished Björk and Bambu."
